Description

Bears Invade is a print series that begs the all-important question: What would our world look like if bears banded together and waged war against humans?

Series One pays homage to Canada’s rich military history—representing the three primary divisions that make up our armed forces: infantry, navy and air force.

Drawn in the style of classic WW2 propoganda posters, the series explores how bears have taken advantage of our focus on the war overseas as an opportunity to stage an occupation. Comprised of three individual prints, they depict the cultural evolution of our country as bears begin to take over Canada.

The Bear Forces would use enlistment pieces like The Royal Canadian Bear Force (No.2) and Canada’s New Navy (No.3) to encourage the war effort, while Bears Invade (No.1) is a classic propaganda piece created from the point of view of humans fearing an imminent bear invasion.

The Royal Canadian Bear Force is a spoof of a WW2 Era propaganda poster designed by illustrator Ted Harris. Every effort was made to honour the spirit of the original illustration, while putting a humorous (but terrifying) spin on it.
